Man Who Snatched Gun During Deadly Shootout With Cops ID'd By Philadelphia Police

Police in Philadelphia are seeking a 42-year-old man in connection with the shooting of a city officer that left another suspect dead.

Jose Quinones-Mendez is believed to have snatched the firearm that fell from Alexander Spencer's grip, as he was shot and killed by the partner of a Philadelphia police officer, who was returning fire Friday, Jan. 26, officials said.

The incident happened when 28-year-old Spencer fired at police responding to a grocery store on the 2800 block of N. Mascher Street. Quinones-Mendez, of N. Hancock Street, picked up the gun that Spencer dropped and fled, police said.

He's wanted on charges of Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act (VUFA), Theft, Obstruction of Justice, and Tampering with Evidence, and is considered armed and dangerous.
